Let’s Get YOUR Children ready for THEIR future!

Hello Parents!
WELCOME to our Blog! As you all know, our district is currently going through ongoing budget cuts. Consequently, our school has not only been affected with the loss of a few employees, but the budgets cuts have also minimized our technology budget. As a result we are unable to fulfill most of the basic technology needs in our classrooms.  In efforts to supply this equipment, our school will participate in a fundraising event in the following months. We are currently looking for the support from parents and the community to help us raise the necessary funds and help us meet our goal to be able to provide your children with the skills they need to succeed! We hope that you will highly consider joining us in this future preparing event!
Why we need YOUR Support!
Many parents are under the impression that computers and digital learning is only for games and social networking. However there is a mass amount of learning that is taking place beyond the games.  Our use of this technology will be focused on supporting curriculum standards. ‘’In particular, it must support four key components of learning:
·      Active engagement
·      Participation in groups
·      Frequent interaction and feedback
·      Connection to real-world experts”
Students will be able to become more critical thinkers and have a more advanced education. If we are trying to raise 21st century learners, we need to teach them in 21st century ways.
What we would like to provide YOUR children with!
Our classrooms are currently in need of working computers and DVD players. Most of the computers and video players in our classrooms are outdated and do not support the CD-ROMs that are linked to our current reading and math programs.  With the computers, our students will learn:
·      Basic computer typing skills
·      Internet research use
·      Email access and use
·      Power point presentations
In particular, we will focus on doing daily activities on a math website called IXL.com (http://www.ixl.com/). Since many children have trouble focusing on math, this website will allow them to do some extended learning based on the lessons we do on a given day.  In addition our classrooms are also in need of DVD players since most of our material is no longer on VHS tapes.  To keep up with our reading and math programs, DVD’s are included for extended learning and we don’t have the equipment to show them to the students. Also, DVD players will allow us to purchase educational DVD’s to be used to show students more recent videos that display historic events and science experiments to help them prepare for upcoming district and state exams. With the school being able to purchase these DVD’s we will be able to differentiate in every classroom an allow students to move forward without interrupting their continued education or the education of the students who need intervention. Let’s treat YOUR CHILDREN like Who they ARE, SCHOLARS!
We hope that you will highly consider joining us for this life-changing event! Your child’s future will be based on even more highly advance material. We would need to prepare them for it starting today!  Their future depends on what we do today! Feel free to send us any question or concern regarding our fundraiser. We thank you in advance for your support! We are eager to hear what you think of this event and how you will allow us to help you build your child’s future!
